The next signature for the 2025 PGA Championship is also the PGA Tour’s next hallmark event.
Next up is the Truist Championship, formerly known as the Wells Fargo Championship. The 2025 edition of the Truist, which is typically held at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, will take place on the Wissahickon Course at the Philadelphia Cricket Club in Flourtown, Pennsylvania, from May 8–11.
In December 2023, it was revealed that Wells Fargo will no longer be sponsoring the event in 2024. Truist was revealed as the new title sponsor in August 2024.
The tournament’s defending champion is Rory McIlroy. Since then, he has won three tournaments, including the 2025 Masters and 2025 Players. The Truist will be his first individual competition since taking home the green jacket, but he did participate in the team event at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans last week.
How will the 2025 PGA Tour signature events work?
In 2025, there are eight signature events planned. Five people will not be cut, including the Truist. Of those eight trademark events, this one is the sixth.
How much money will be awarded at the 2025 Truist Championship?
The winner will receive $3.6 million out of the $20 million total prize fund for the event.
Who will compete in the Truist Championship in 2025?
Only 68 names were posted as of Friday’s field release, despite McIlroy being the main attraction in the field of 72. Four sponsor invitations will still be sent out for the tournament. Rickie Fowler and Jordan Spieth were two well-known figures who were not in the 68 as of Friday.
