College World Series Predictions 2025: Which Teams Will Reach Their Ticket to Omaha?

2025 College World Series Omaha predictions

All eyes will be on the eight programs that can make it to the College World Series in 2025 after the NCAA baseball tournament’s 64-team field was revealed on Monday.

Vanderbilt won the SEC tournament championship and earned the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament by playing its best baseball at the appropriate time. With eight of the 16 national seeds—including the top four—belonging to the SEC, the other conferences also controlled the regional host sites.

Under first-year coach Jim Schlossnagle, who guided Texas A&M to the national championship series the previous season, Texas, which finished first in the SEC regular season standings and was selected as the No. 2 overall seed of the NCAA tournament, is another strong candidate for the national championship.

The NCAA tournament will probably see some upsets, though. Following the bracket’s announcement on Monday, these are our predictions for College World Series participants:

Predictions for the College World Series

No. 1 Vanderbilt

After winning the SEC championship and their past three SEC series against Kentucky, Alabama, and Tennessee, the Commodores are fired up going into the NCAA tournament.

Starting pitchers JD Thompson and Cody Bowker, who both have season ERAs below 4.5, lead Vanderbilt’s formidable staff. With a 1.64 ERA over 44 innings this season and a second-team All-SEC pick, closer Sawyer Hawks has been a key member of Vandy’s bullpen.

Although Vanderbilt isn’t a club that hits many home runs, their bats have also begun to improve. However, with a.534 slugging percentage and a.358 batting average, Riley Nelson was among the top hitters in collegiate baseball this season.

Northeastern

There has to be a dark horse in every College World Series prediction, right? Northeastern has one of the top pitching staffs in the nation and has won 27 straight games.

This season, the Huskies’ team ERA is 2.92, 0.32 runs below Coastal Carolina’s, the second-ranked team in the country. With ERAs under 2.75 and more than 69 innings worked between Will Jones, Jordan Gottesman, and Aiven Cabral, Northeastern has consistently used the same three pitchers in its weekend rotation throughout the season.

The pitching depth required for regional and super regional victories is present at Northeastern. It must first defeat Bethune-Cookman, Mississippi State, and No. 9 Florida State in the Tallahassee Regional.

No. 5 North Carolina

In 2024, the Tar Heels advanced to the College World Series but lost to Florida State and Tennessee in the second round.

North Carolina’s lineup offers a plenty of slugging potential and strong pitching depth. Jake Knapp was a dominant ace pitcher in 2025, finishing 12-0 with a 2.17 ERA and winning ACC Pitcher of the Year. After hitting 18 and 13 home runs, respectively, first baseman Hunter Stokely and catcher Luke Stevenson were selected to the first team of the ACC.

Both offensively and defensively, North Carolina can succeed. The Tar Heels play Holy Cross, Nebraska, and Oklahoma in their home regional opener. The Eugene Regional winner faces the Chapel Hill Regional champion.

No. 13 Coastal Carolina

The most crucial factor in the postseason is pitching depth, which Coastal Carolina possesses.

Even though the Chanticleers play in the Sun Belt, a non-major league, they rank eighth in RPI. With victories over both No. 11 Clemson and No. 16 Southern Miss, who were both chosen as national seeds, they finished the season 48-11.

At 3.24 ERA, Coastal Carolina’s pitching staff is the second-best in the country, only surpassed by Northeastern. Jacob Morrison, the 2025 ace, pitched 85 1/3 innings with a 1.90 ERA and.87 WHIP. Standing at six feet eight, Morrison has an 11-0 record thus far this season.

In the Conway Regional, Coastal Carolina will play the Auburn Regional winner and host Florida, East Carolina, and Fairfield.

No. 2 Texas

Even if he hasn’t won a national championship yet, Jim Schlossnagle understands how to win in the postseason.

In his first season with Texas, Schlossnagle built one of his most talented teams to date, and he guided Texas A&M to the national championship the previous year. The Longhorns finished with the best regular season record in the league following an outstanding 22-8 conference record, even though they did not win the SEC tournament.

Texas thrives on the mound, just like the majority of the teams on this list. The Longhorns have possibly the most potent bullpen weapon in college baseball in Dylan Volantis, who won the SEC Freshman of the Year award after recording 12 saves in 45 1/3 innings. Stars Max Grubbs and Luke Harrison each tossed more than 50 innings this season with an ERA below 3.0.

Texas will play the winner of the Los Angeles Regional, which will be hosted by No. 15 UCLA, in the Austin Regional against UTSA, Kansas State, and Houston Christian.

No. 10 Ole Miss

Ole Miss’ impressive performance at the SEC tournament, when it defeated LSU, Arkansas, and Florida to advance to the championship game, helped it climb to a No. 10 seed. The Rebels defeated Auburn, ranked fourth, in a series to close up the regular season.

With six batters hitting double-digit home runs this season, Ole Miss has a powerful hitting team. Hunter Elliott, its true ace, pitched 78 2/3 innings with a 3.09 ERA and 94 strikeouts.

It is almost always a good sign that the Rebels are playing their best baseball going into the postseason.

In the Oxford Regional, Ole Miss matches up with the Athens Regional winner, which comprises Georgia Tech, Western Kentucky, and Murray State.

No. 6 LSU

LSU, who barely qualified for the NCAA tournament in 2024 and did not go past the first weekend, will return as a regional host in 2025.

However, the Tigers are prepared for a return to the College World Series as they aim to make it to Omaha for the first time since 2023, when they won the national championship with a strong lineup that featured Dylan Crews and Paul Skenes.

Six of LSU’s batters are hitting over.310 this season, demonstrating the team’s strength once again. Jared Jones, who hit.333 in 2025 with 19 home runs and 66 RBIs, is among the top hitters in collegiate baseball.

The Tigers’ star This season, Kade Anderson, one of the top-ranked left-handed pitchers in the 2025 MLB Draft, pitched 89 innings with a 3.54 ERA with an absurd 145 strikeouts. Anthony Eyanson, the number two pitcher, pitched 84 1/3 innings with a 2.77 ERA, which was also good.

One of the best programs in collegiate baseball, LSU will return to Omaha in 2025. Additionally, don’t be shocked if it tops the Jello shot leaderboards once more. The Tigers will play the Clemson Regional after hosting Dallas Baptist, Rhode Island, and Arkansas-Little Rock in the Baton Rouge Regional.

No. 3 Arkansas

Despite losing in consecutive years in its own regional, Arkansas was among the top collegiate baseball teams in 2023 and 2024. In 2025, it will change.

The shortstop With 18 home runs, 58 RBIs, and a batting average of.353, Wehiwa Aloy won the SEC Player of the Year award. In addition, six more Razorbacks players batted over.300 or hit double-digit home runs.

Zach Root, Gabe Gaeckle, and Landon Beidelschies, Arkansas’s starters, each have ERAs above 4.00 this season, indicating that the team lacks the pitching ability it had in previous years. Its bullpen, however, is a strength because it has many arms that can extend games.

Arkansas-caliber teams can’t lose for three years in a row, can they? The Razorbacks will play the Knoxville Regional champion after hosting Kansas, Creighton, and North Dakota State.
