As Pride Month draws to a close, the Windy City is gearing up to wrap up the month-long festivities with the Chicago Pride Parade on Sunday, June 29.
Pride Month honors the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in New York City, which began when police raided the Stonewall Inn, a well-known gay bar located in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village. The protests that followed are recognized for sparking a significant change in LGBTQ+ activism across the United States.
Tens of thousands are anticipated to join the parade in Chicago, which will commence from the Northalsted neighborhood. This year’s parade theme is United in Pride.
