Carom seeds, also known as ajwain, have been consumed in India for centuries. They’ve been used to prepare meals and are thought to have therapeutic benefits. However, with the advancement of modern medicine, the use of this spice has decreased over time.

However, it has gained importance in recent years, and properly so. Ajwain is high in fibre, minerals, and antioxidants, all of which make it a must-have in our kitchens and on our plates. Ajwain also has a strong aroma and flavour, making it even easier to include into culinary dishes.

Carom seeds assist you lose weight by increasing your metabolism. In a glass of water, soak a tablespoon of ajwain overnight and consume the water the next morning. Drinking this first thing in the morning boosts your metabolism and helps you lose weight.

Helps in the reduction of acidity and indigestion –

One of the most important properties of ajwain is that it aids in the treatment of acid reflux and indigestion. Ajwain contains enzymes that function as a remedy and aid in the release of saliva in the mouth as well as digestive juices from the stomach. To get the most out of ajwain seeds, chew them raw or simply roast them in a pan and let them cool before chewing.

Help in toothache relief –

To relieve toothache, mix lukewarm water with a tablespoon of carom seeds and swish it inside your mouth. Another technique to help is to just inhale the ajwain fumes when toasting it in a pan.

Tie a potli with it in a clean cotton kerchief. Keep a safe distance from the baby’s headrest when the temperature isn’t too hot, so it can inhale the vapours. This is known as ajwain (carom seeds), a potli treatment that has been used in Indian families for centuries. If you don’t want to use garlic, leave it out.
