Asia Cup 2025 Final: India Beat Pakistan by Five Wickets to Lift Trophy

India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 Final highlights

In the Asia Cup final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, India defeated Pakistan by five wickets with two balls left.

India kept their title when Pakistan fell from 113-1 to 146 all out.

Pakistan lost their last nine wickets for 33 runs in 39 deliveries after a brilliant start at bat.

The only other Pakistani batsman to reach double digits was No. 3 Saim Ayub (14) after Sahibzada Farhan (57 runs in 38 deliveries) and Fakhar Zaman (46 in 35) had given Pakistan a strong start at 84-0. Farhan scored three sixes and five fours.

Kuldeep Yadav, a wrist spinner with a left arm, took 4-30 in four overs. Axar Patel, Varun Chakravarthy, and Jasprit Bumrah each took two wickets.

After 19.1 overs, Pakistan’s innings came to a conclusion with Bumrah taking the final wicket.

Pakistan was 87-1 at the half after enjoying the powerplay and scoring 45 goals without losing.

Farhan scored his second century off 35 balls in the tournament, and against India as well. Farhan was caught in the deep in the tenth over, giving Chakravarthy the breakthrough. Nevertheless, Pakistan were poised for a high score after surpassing 100 in 11.2 overs.

In his second two-over session, Yadav initiated the comeback by dismissing Ayub in the 13th over.

In the 17th over, Yadav broke the back of Pakistan’s innings with three wickets. The lower-middle order collapsed under duress, and he dismissed Salman Agha (8), Shaheen Afridi (0), and Faheem Ashraf (0). When Zaman was out caught against Chakravarthy in the 15th over, it was a game-changer.

India’s innings got off to a poor start as they fell to 20-3 after four overs, losing the valuable wicket of Abhishek Sharma.

Tilak Varma, who hit a vital six against Haris Rauf in the 20th and last over, scored an nerveless 69 not out for India off 53 balls. Rinku Singh hit a four to score the winning runs.

India won the T20 Asia Cup for the second time since 2016 and for the ninth time overall since 1984.

In the Asia Cup’s history, which began in 1984, this was the first India-Pakistan final. Prior to this competition, the two teams had faced each other twice, in the Super Four and in group play, with India winning both games comfortably.

Following both of those matches, India’s cricket players refused to shake hands with Pakistan, and the toss on Sunday was also devoid of handshakes.
