Oppo has teased the release of its first foldable smartphone, nearly three years after a prototype was debuted. The Find N resembles Samsung's Galaxy Fold range and was developed after "four years of intense R&D and six generations of prototypes," according to an Oppo news release. On December 15th, the launch will take place at Oppo Inno Day. Apart from releasing a photograph and a video, Oppo did not divulge any information on the Find N's CPU, display, or other specifications. It did promise a "beautiful" device that would feel pleasant in the hand and be easy to operate in both open and closed configurations. It also stated that all screen creasing and durability difficulties associated with folding devices had been resolved. Samsung is the most well-known producer of folding smartphones, with both the Fold and Flip models. The latest Fold 3 model "still needs development," according to our Engadget assessment. It took Samsung three generations to sort out key kinks in the Fold series. Oppo has taken a different approach, delaying the introduction of its first model until it thought it had worked out any serious flaws. Oppo has teased other devices, including a "cutting-edge" neural processing unit (NPU) and smart glasses, in addition to the Find N. Last year's Oppo AR Glass 2021, developer-only Wayfarer-style spectacles with 0.71-inch OLED panels meant to be connected to Android devices via a USB wire, is expected to be replaced by the latter. It teased the new model with the phrase "light vs. light," implying that they are lightweight models intended at consumers rather than engineers. Oppo Inno Day is December 14-15, so they will find out shortly.
