Since 1990, this date has been commemorated as Unification Day, or Great Union Day, Romania's national holiday, which is honoured in today's Doodle. Alba Iulia, along with the nation's capital, Bucharest, is a key destination for celebrations of the past and present in the city where unification was finalised.
